Sorry I’ve Been Gone

Good morning my beautiful blog readers!

I want to apologize this morning for being MIA from my Blog for so long! I never even got to finish telling  you all about my wonderful trip to Belfast, Ireland! I promise, I have very good reasoning for all of this though! IMG_20170517_091932

The reason behind me not blogging on a regular basis like I normally would, is because well…life kicked in. That is the honest truth. I was a Senior at my University and final exam time rolled around more quickly than anticipated, I had to begin applying for Grad school, and then I was getting ready for my own graduation! Long story short, I finished all of my final exams, passing each and every one with flying colors, got to go witness my sister (best friend) graduate with her Bachelor degree up in Pensacola, Florida, and then finally, I graduated this past Saturday, May 13, 2017, with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a Minor in Education! I cannot express how excited and thrilled I am to be sharing this wonderful news with you all! It still is all so surreal.

IMG_20170517_092319Now that I am back to a less hectic routine, I will be continuing my blogging and sharing all of my wonderful experiences and stories with you. Please feel free to comment just as you always have! Share your opinions and express your ideas to me! If there is something you would like to hear about or would like me to write about, let meIMG_20170517_091901 know! Your opinions and comments matter and I am just so grateful to have come this far. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me. I not only had “1 of those days”, but I had “those weeks”! Haha I got through them though with the help of friends and family. I know that if I can do it, so can you! Never forget that you are stronger than you believe you are. Never stop believing in yourself and always persevere. I look forward to sharing my summer 2017 with you all. =)

Day 3: History Made In Belfast

We all know the tragic story of the beautiful sunken ship “The Titanic”. Her beautiful beginning was sadly her devastating ending. But do you know the story of where she was made before she even set sail into those icy waters??

I had the privilege of attending the Titanic Museum, one of Belfast’s proud and newer attractions bringing tourists from all over. The experience was incredible. I learned so much history within one morning and early afternoon…the building is shaped like the Titanic and is sitting right beside the original gantries that built the Titanic ship itself. Also, right outside the building is the original ship named “The Nomadic” which was the ship that carried the passengers to the Titanic. Getting to step foot on it and walk around inside was breath-taking. Toward the end of the tour, the museum has voices playing of actual survivors telling their story. I couldn’t believe the horrific stories that were told. It was a sad event that occurred, but many lessons were learned because of it. This is definitely a museum that is worth traveling to visit.

Later that afternoon, my dance team got together and we held a really fun photo shoot. It was incredibly cold that day though and in order to conduct the shoot, we all took our multiple layers off and were left in our warm ups only. Of course, I wasn’t even wearing the correct pants which made for a great laugh once we saw the end results of our shoot. We all felt frozen by the end, from the tips of our toes all the way to our noses! Haha It was such a fun and exciting time together as a team though. It truly was a team bonding moment. We practiced our jumps and tried different poses. We even tried to take pictures with a Polaroid camera, which didn’t turn out so well since we kept laughing every time! We definitely made an impression out by that bay though! I think all of Belfast knew who we were by the time we were done!

Day 3 was a day that I not only discovered history, but made history with my team. I learned how we are a team that doesn’t want to sink like the Titanic did that evening, and in order for that to happen, we need to listen to each other, understand each others feelings, and be there for each other every chance we can. Day 3 definitely showed me that “1 of those days” that can seem great, can turn horrific very quickly, but it can all be avoided if you learn to listen to those around you and enjoy the time you have with them.

Day 2: The Arrival

Having a long 9 hour flight to London, then an hour and half to Ireland was EXHAUSTING! The flight to Ireland was unbearable for me as my sickness was not cooperating with my ears and nose. I felt like they were going to explode! Luckily thoIMG_20170425_094123ugh, my friends and family were there to take care of me and make me feel better once we landed. Three of us who would be competing that week, plus our dance teachers were on that same flight, so we decided to have a photo shoot in the airport once we landed and got our luggage. It was so funny because everyone else in the airport was staring at us, but they all knew what we were there for; Irish dancing is a very popular sport in Ireland. =)

Once we left the airport, we all parted our separate ways and went to our homes for the next week. My family decided to stay at this cozy little bed and breakfast that was not too far from the competition venue. We introduced ourselves to the manager, changed, got ourselves settled in, and made our way to walk the town.

It’s a cute little town. Some parts are prettier than others, as with any place you go, but overall it was very pretty. We walked the streets to just investigate where we would be living for the next week. We also made our way to this beautiful church and stayed for mass as it was Palm Sunday.

When mass was finished, my parents and I agreed that it was definitely time to find something to eat! We had basically been awake almost 24 hours and really hadn’t eaten much besides little snacks and one meal on the plane. So this was the next investigation that took place! One of the hardest characteristics about Belfast that we discovered, which was most difficult for all of us to get use to while we were there, was that everything closes either at 5pm or 6pm! Pubs are the only locations left open and most of those even close by 11pm! Trying to find dinner was a little bit of a mission because of IMG_20170425_094300this. We walked for what felt like FOREVER looking for a restaurant.

Finally, we walked down this alley that had a little cozy place called “Made In Belfast”. We walked inside and didn’t see anything we liked on the menu, but decided to give it a try as it was late and we were very tired and very hungry! We each ordered a meal that we thought we might enjoy, and come to our surprise, we did! It was freshly cooked and had such flavor to it, it was incredible! The wait was definitely worth it.

After finishing our well deserved and delicious meal, as well as our first long and exhausting day, we headed back to our B&B. As I crawled into bed I realized that the adventures of the week had only just begun and that this was just “1 of those days” that would be a part of a much larger picture…

Day 1: Takeoff

Saturday, April 8, 2017, is “1 of those days” that I will never forget. This is the day that I had been waiting for, for what seems like eternity; the day I left for Ireland.

IMG_20170418_205303Our flight wasn’t until the evening, so the morning hours were spent taking care of last-minute tasks and saying goodbye to my grandma. Packing for this trip was a struggle for me personally. BelIMG_20170418_205344fast, Ireland, is very cold still at this time of year. At night it would go into the 30’s! Well, I am a Floridian girl, born and raised, so I don’t own many clothes that require a thick material. I managed to find pieces of clothing though from past trips I have taken in cold weather and made sure to bring enough of them to layer up when we got there.

As the hours went by, so did the anticipation. Remember, I had never been out of the country before this trip, so this was all very exciting and new to me! My parents and I finally loaded up into an Uber and were on our way! Miami International Airport was PACKED, just as it always is. Trying to check our luggage was an interesting task as the line was very long. Luckily, my dad came prepared and was dressed in his pilots uniform, so this gave us a few perks alone our long journey.

We found our way through TSA and customs and finally got to our gate. I couldn’t believe this was actually about to happen! My first time on a long flight to a whole other continent! It was like a dream. My mom of course wanted to be my paparazzi so we decided to take a lot of pictures while we waited to board the airplane. My teachers from my Irish Dance school were also on my flight, so once the pictures were done being taken, we spoke with them and their daughter about how excited we all were about the next nine-hour flight! (A little sarcasm is in that last sentence but I think you get what I am trying to express haha)

At last, the desk attendant came over the loud-speaker and stated that they were going to begin boarding! My parents and I hurried to the front of the line (privileges of having a pilot with you) to make our way onto the plane. It was finally official. We were on our way to Belfast, Ireland, for the 2017 An Comhdhail Irish Dance World Championships!

I’m Back!

IMG_20170416_124647Good afternoon and Happy Easter to everyone! I hope you all remember that today is the day of our Lord, Jesus Christ’s, resurrection; it is a day for happiness, joy and splendor all to be spent with our loved ones.

I want to apologize for being MIA for the past week, but I had good reason to be, and those of you who keep up with my blog should know why. I have just returned to the good ‘ol USA from traveling to Belfast, Ireland! I wanted to keep you updated while I was there so you could join me on my adventures, but the WIFI service was just awful! Besides my WIFI struggles, I also got ill right before we left for our trip, sadly, so that was another reason I wasn’t updating either.

Anyway, the next few posts are going to be all about my exciting journey and how even thoIMG_20170416_125249ugh I was pretty ill, I still made each and every day “1 of those days” that were exciting and exhausting all at the same time!

The experience I had while in Ireland was truly one that I will never forget. I am so thrilled that I have this blog to share it all with you.

For now, I will leave you with a few pictures and a very Happy Easter. I want you all to spend the day with those you love and remember that we are saved from our sins. So go color Easter eggs, hIMG_20170416_125342ave an Easter egg scavenger hunt, eat some chocolate bunnies, do all you can with your friends and family! This is what Jesus wanted us to enjoy and remember, that he is the reason for this wonderful season and that we are able to partake in these wonderful traditions because of his loving sacrifice.

IMG_20170416_124733Until next time, I hope today is a remarkable Easter and “1 of those days” that you thank the Lord for your life and the opportunities that we have been given.

For those of you who follow my blog on a regular basis, you know that I am a big and very passionate believer in following your dreams and never giving up. Well, I believe the same goes for a person’s academic goals and achievements as well. Academics are just as important in this world, if not even more important, than a sport or weight goal that you might set for yourself. Academics are what will help get you to the next level in life; they will help you to determine what it is you want to be or do for the remainder of your life.

Today, St. Thomas University acknowledged this fact and celebrated the amazing achievements of so many bright students that our campus holds. The Scholastic Achievement Reception is a little luncheon held for those students’ who have achieved academic excellence receiving either a 3.5 GPA or higher. The order goes as follows based upon what your GPA is: Dean’s List- 3.5-3.7, Provost’s Honor Roll- 3.79-3.9, and President’s Honor Roll- 4.0.

I think it is wonderful that my school honors and acknowledges those students who have worked so hard to achieve this difficult task. College is no easy milestone, but it’s a milestone that when we make even just a little bit of progress, it’s nice for other’s to see that we are working past the milestone and onto something greater. We all yearn for that feeling of appreciation and hope that people DO see just how far we all have come.

Personally, today was a huge step in the right direction for me. Being my senior year and graduating in one month, my mom FINALLY got to attend this beautiful reception to see me get my awards. After long nights, extra coffee, tears, extra food, much procrastination, and most of all tons of hard work and effort, I am proud to say that I received the certificates and achievements of being on the Provost’s Honor Roll for the Fall of 2016 semester and the President’s Honor Roll for the Spring of 2016 semester. I couldn’t be happier as this is a great triumph for me. President’s Honor Roll is something I have been working to accomplish for a while now, and I finally did it!

I have to thank those who helped get me this far in my academic life. My professors’ have all pushed me to be a better student. Whether it was with my writing skills, speaking skills, redoing an assignment multiple times, or helping me to just see that I am capable of doing the work, they all have helped me to become not only a better student, but a better person for whatever career I choose to accept in my future. My parents have been there since day one. Whenever I’m feeling down or like I can’t do it, they cut right in and try to see if there is anything they can do. Even just their hugs sometimes or words of encouragement keeps me going. Lastly, my best friends and boyfriend. Learning with your best friends by your side just makes it all even more worth while because you know that they are going through the same scenarios and stress that you are going through. If it weren’t for our awesome lunch dates, talks on the phone, venting sessions, and just times to ourselves, these achievements I accomplished would’ve been a lot harder to come by.

To add from my last post, these are some of those little things in life that I am personally blessed with and grateful for. Today was #1OfThoseDays that I will always remember. It was something that I can’t explain but just makes me smile because I know that I did it. I congratulate all of my fellow peers who received any three of the amazing honors today and I want you to remember that feeling of walking up on that stage today; how it felt to receive that award and know that you are capable of so much more than you know. Don’t give up now, keep going strong all throughout life. I’m proud and happy for all of us and know that we have a lot to offer this world and make everyday #1OfThoseDays that we come out strong and proud.

Little Blessings

Blessings..what is a blessing? According to, a Blessing is defined as “the act or words of a person who blesses“, or “a favor or gift bestowed by God, thereby bringing happiness”. For me, these definitions are more than accurate. I have had many blessings in my life from health blessings, to those individuals who have entered my life, to lessons I have been taught, and the family I have been given. I have been blessed in many ways and am thankful for all that has happened throughout my lifetime thus far.

The reason I am bringing up blessings this blog post, is because many new adventures are soon occurring for me in my personal life. From traveling to Ireland, to finally graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May of this year, I have much to look forward to. This got me thinking, why do we not take notice in the little things around us as much as we should? So many other events and activities occur in our day-to-day lives, that we sometimes forget to even take a breath of fresh air! It’s a sad reality that we live in; that individuals, teenagers even, are killing themselves because they feel unappreciated or unloved. There are so many people on drugs or whom have an addiction. It is a reality that not everyone is aware of because we are all confined in our own little bubbles.

IMG_20170328_121307  Yesterday, I had the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather that South Florida so graciously shares with us and all these thoughts fled into my mind. I want those individuals whom are having 1 of those difficult days to just take a breath and look around you. There is so much beauty surrounding you and within yourself, even if you don’t realize it. We all have the power to better ourselves even when it seems impossible. It’s alright to ask for help, to cry, to break down even every so often; but never should anyone have to take the leap of committing acts of suicide or any other harmful act to make them feel better about themselves and their life.

We must remember to thank God for the blessings he has given us and help those who can’t seem to find any, discover them. This is a letter to all of you, whether you are going through 1 of those days now or will have 1 in the future. I am personally hoping that someone close to me reads this blog post today. I shall not name them out of respect, but I hope they know that they are loved and that they are a blessing in my life. You all are a blessing on this Earth and have a purpose. Let’s help each other to find it.

~Like a butterfly, we all grow, we all change. We are all learning to discover our true colors in life. We are finding our wings so that we will eventually be able to take off and find our way~ IMG_20170328_121203

It’s almost that time; time where everything else around me disappears and it’s just me, the lights, the stage, the costume, and my confidence. #3MoreWeeks is trending right now in the world of Irish Dancers and it’s all because of one, important upcoming competition.

The World Championships for the An Comhdhail Branch of Irish Dance is being held this April, at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Ireland. This is a competition that brings the best of the best from all around the world to compete against each other for the highest of honors. Just the opportunity to be invited to attend this competition, or what is known as a feiseanna, is an amazing accomplishment for some!

New soft shoe ghillies (breaking them in can be painful!)

As stated in a previous blog post of mine, “What’s Your Passion”, Irish Step Dancing runs in my blood.  I have been able to find something so moving, peaceful, and enjoyable within this type of dance that is something like I have never felt before; it’s my escape from the real world. The fact that finally, after 19 years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears (literally), and a love for the art has finally paid off…it still puts me in awe every time the subject is brought up.

The past few months have been filled with training and practicing. Days and nights, no matter what time of day it may be have been dedicated to preparing for the championship. You have to make sure that if you want to even have ANY chance of even receiving a recall at the World’s, that you are working hard for it. You can’t just expect to go into this feis without putting any practice or time into your training. It takes both physical and mental training to ensure that you are in the best shape the day you dance.

The World Championships is something that is an honor to compete at. Girls and Boys from all around the world train year round for this opportunity of a lifetime. I am blessed that I will be attending the championship this year. It is something that I have truly been looking forward to for years now. I have been preparing for this chance of a lifetime for a long time. I have been working hard and know that when I walk on that stage, I will be able to say to myself that “No matter what happens, I know I have done my best”.

I am proud of the improvement I have made and know that when I walk out on that stage, the result won’t matter unless I am confident within myself and my dancing. I hold the power to what my result will be. So far, I am happy with the outcome. This doesn’t mean I don’t have more to improve upon, because I do! The message I am trying to address to you all is about inner strength. In order to succeed in life, we must know within our hearts that no matter the outcome, that we can say to ourselves that we have done all we can and our very best. It is important to believe in yourself and be confident in who you are and what it is you want to achieve. If you don’t contain these attributes, you will never be able to succeed or be truly happy in life. So remember, whether it be in school, work, or a competition, make everyday a new start and say “Today will be one of those days that I do my very best!”. I promise, you will go much farther, be more humble, and more content with how you are living your life and how life is treating you.

Tale as Old as Time

Sorry I have been MIA for the past week everyone, but I did not want to blog again until I had seen the new film, Beauty & the Beast! As mentioned in my last blog post, I won advanced screening tickets to go see the new Disney film. Yesterday, March 14, 2017, my boyfriend and I had the opportunity of attending the film! Getting to dress up like Belle and receive the royal treatment at my favorite movie of all time was a dream come true for me! All I can say is that this Disney Princess and her Prince were in awe! It was absolutely incredible! The 3D experience blew me away as well!

Without giving too many details away for those of you who still want to see the film, it was filled with action, romance, family, love, and independence. It is a film about how you should never judge a book by its cover just as the original taught us. It’s filled with music (original and new songs), dancing, and many lessons throughout the storyline. One of my favorite aspects of the film is that it tells us the back story of both Beast and Belle so that we are better able to understand their pasts’, and where they are going in their future’s.

I didn’t take as many pictures as I would’ve liked, as they confiscated our phones so that their would be no chance of anyone video recording. If I had to nitpick about certain aspects or things done throughout the film that have changed, I could name a few that I wasn’t completely in agreement with changing from the original 1991 film. Overall though, the new live-action Beauty & the Beast was portrayed very well and is an incredible film that all ages will fall in love with! It teaches multiple lessons about love, living fearlessly, and showing the world who you really are.

I could go on and on about this film, but I would probably give it away and ruin the vibe for the rest of you Disney lovers. So go enjoy yourself this weekend; take the family and see this new and improved live-action film created by Walt Disney Company, Beauty & the Beast! You will enjoy it, forevermore!

Class of 2017

I know I have been MIA again a lot lately my followers. Life is just so overwhelming, even when you’re out of school, and can sometimes get the best of you.

I have some exciting news to share with you all though and I just have to show you all with this photo!

It’s officially official! I am a college graduate of the #ClassOf2017 from #STU, and have a degree to prove it! Hehe 😄

I am so grateful, blessed and am excited for all of the future journeys and endeavors that are in store for me. 👩‍🎓❤🎓💙

I want to thank my family, friends, classmates, and professors who helped me to achieve this amazing accomplishment! I honestly have no words to say but thank you and am glad that each of you passed through my life. I have learned so much over the past four years and cannot wait to see what God has in store for me next on this journey we call life.

What’s Next?

Pictures shown below are sharing a few of my experiences within the past few months.   Pictures are worth a thousand words. Take a look at your camera roll from the past few months. Are you happy with what you see?

Between traveling, school, and work, it always seems as if there is more to do than time allows. Traveling to Ireland was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, and even though I didn’t get to finish sharing that experience with you, I think it’s alright that I didn’t. I believe this just goes to  show you, my loyal followers, exactly what I wanted you to learn when I started this blog in the first place. 1OfThoseDays was started not only for a class that I was taking, but to share with you the experiences of life that a college student can go through. We all are going through different experiences in our lives, especially at this stage. It may seem at times that no one understands us; everyone always seems to be worrying about the babies, teenagers, or even adults. College students aren’t always recognized, which is why I wanted to start this blog; to let you all know that I am going through the same things you may be going through. Even if they aren’t the same, we all have moments in our life where we need to know that someone is listening or that someone understands; life happens. Life happens to all of us and will never stop. The world keeps turning. We all need to learn how to turn that bad days into good ones and how to reach out to those we love. We need to remember to appreciate one another, and I wanted to remind each and every one of you that it is ok to lose track of yourself sometimes; its how you decide to come back that shows who you really are.

We all have busy lives, which is why, as I stated, I think it is ok that I haven’t gotten to post as much as I have wanted to lately. I am human, just like all of you. Sometimes I get preoccupied, I am forgetful. Sometimes, even when I do have the time, I just don’t feel like doing anything because it is “1 of those days”. Life is a journey and sometimes is takes over, whether it be for good or bad reasons. I have had many wonderful experiences the past few months and am grateful for them all. I am excited to start the next chapter in my life. I want my followers to know though that I am here. Reach out to me, ask me questions, leave comments. Summer is approaching and I believe summer is a time to go and experience life to the fullest, especially with the ones you love. Travel, go sit by the beach, read a book, use your imagination. Always stay working hard, but don’t forget to experience the little things in life too. This is what I am trying to do, and I can honestly share with you that it has helped me to learn many new lessons, good and bad, that I will remember for the rest of my life. I have been having plenty of “1 of those days”…have you?
