Spring Break 2017

Being that this week is Spring Break for us whom attend St. Thomas University here in Miami Gardens, Florida, I think this is the perfect opportunity to share this important fact; we need to remember the importance of vacations. No matter whether you stay home or travel, vacation is a very important thing in life that everyone should take every so often. If it weren’t for some type of vacation, I’m pretty sure we would all lose our minds from the stress of everyday work life.

Vacation is something that allows us to feel relief from our everyday schedules. It is something that should be enjoyed; something where you are able to relax and just enjoy the people whom you are spending it with. We won’t be able to take our materialistic items with us when we pass on, but we will be able to take the memories and the love that we share with those who mean the most to us. Vacation is a way that we are able to escape with those people and just remember what it means to be free! We are able to be children again; be childish in an adult body.

Even though it wasn’t during spring break, two weeks ago I had the opportunity to take a vacation with my family, which has not happened in a very long time. It was not too far from home, but it was just far enough for us to appreciate each other just a little extra and enjoy the time well spent together. We went to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. It was a vacation that lasted only 3 days, but will last a lifetime in my heart. The memories and time spent together were so special to me because it had been so long since we had all taken a vacation together as a family.

I feel time spent together with your family is important away from everyday rituals as it allows for you to discuss topics that you may not normally speak about or to do activities you normally wouldn’t be able to do. Vacation with family is a time to rekindle bonds and share in the laughter and fun times together! I hope to be taking many more vacations with my family while I have the opportunity to still do so! I aspire you all to do the same. =)

I hope everyone has a remarkable Spring Break whenever it may be held and no matter where you go or what you decide to do, but always remember that a vacation with those you love is another thing that you should not take for granted. It is time that you should forever remember and treasure. TIme goes quickly when we are having fun because we are all a part of something bigger than just time; we are love. Show it in more ways than one. Make your Spring Break special by spending “One of Those Days” with the ones you care about and hear the laughs and see the smiles that will last a lifetime.

Preach it! I had a defining spring break milestone just a few days ago. After doing some light assignment work in the morning, I set everything aside for the rest of the day, retreated to my room, and just played Metroid Prime on my Wii U for the next several hours.
I was even munching on some airhead candies throughout and feeling pure mirth at how long it’s been since I had time for such an experience.
Kudos to you on sharing your vacation time with your family 😀

I am so happy o hear that you decided to do a little bit of work in the mornings ans then enjoy the rest of your day. We really should try to make everyday like this, but sometimes with our busy schedules, it can be difficult. SPring break was the perfect time to do this though and I am glad that you had a nice little break as well. This is so important.

I agree with you Victoria, you are so right in saying that we could enjoy and take pleasure in vacations, especially with your family. I also think that it is important to take pleasure in every day activity as well. I know that what I would need is like a 20-minute stress-free period haha. Where I am not allowed to do anything (except maybe meditate). I think it is important to try to create mindful habits! Great post! 🙂 Can’t wait until your next one!

Thank you Zelda! It’s true that we are able to take pleasure in little activities we do everyday, but it is nice to get away from everyday life sometimes. I love that you meditate! My friend at dance does it every night before she goes to bed and she swears by it. I think it’s wonderful and would like to give it a go more often myself. Thank you for sharing. I will hopefully try it soon and let you know!

This is so beautiful! I cannot express how badly I needed this spring break vacation (and sometimes we need a vacation from the vacation). I also went to Orlando and spent my time doing whatever I wanted to do with the people I love. So many memories have been made, and, like you said, those memories will stay with me for a lifetime!! It’s so nice that you went to a theme park, I think people like going to them because it almost seems like another world, an extra escape (we just can’t escape the pricing haha).

I love what you said about needing a vacation from the vacation because sometimes that is absolutely true! lol
I am so happy that you got to make new memories with your friends and that you had such a wonderful time. Orlando really can be considered another world, especially when you hit the theme parks. The pricing would be great to escape, but at the end of the day, if you made the most of your trip, it’s all worth it!

You are really lucky to be able to take vacation with your family go visit. I wish my family was living closure to me. Enjoy passing time with your family cause time goes really fast. This is the kind of memories you will always remember and story to your children later. Universal studio is for me the best place in the world haha. We never really grow up even when we are adult, we still just some little kids.

Aw, it’s hard when you live far away from your family. I am very blessed to still be living at home. Sometimes I know I even take it for granted which is why this little vacation we had taken was so important to me because it was something that we hadn’t done in a long time together as a family. I will always remember these times and cannot wait to one day share the experiences I had with my own children. I will always be a child at heart. I hope you get to enjoy a vacation with your family soon. As you said, these are the moments that we will treasure and remember forever.

Hope you had a wonderful spring break. While, the spring break did not make sense for me😭, I still have work study and internship. However, it is much easier for me compare to the normal school days. Last semester! I can do it! Then I will have a long vacation!

I had work and dance and one class during our spring break because it was a mini term class, so I understand what you went through 100%. Luckily though, I did get to take this trip before our spring break which really made all the difference. I am in my last semester as well and cannot wait! Haha I hope you finish strong and enjoy your vacation once we graduate! =) Keep up the great work! We are so close!

I love the word vacation. It instantly makes me want to explore. I agree with spending time with family and doing things together that you don’t do on a regular day basis, it sparks up new conversations. I have to take a trip to Orlando one day.

Absolutely loved this post! I run a travel blog, so vacation and traveling is what it’s all about! Without having vacations, we would always be stressed out and moody all the time. Everyone needs a well deserved break, whether it is for a couple of days, or a couple of weeks. This spring break I didn’t go too far from home either; I stayed at a resort for 3 days in Boca Raton, FL with my close friends and we did various activities, it was much needed! The pictures you posted are so cute! I am glad you and your family had a wonderful time together on your vacation. I have been to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures and I must say that those are some awesome places! Great post!

I cannot agree with you more. I am one of those people who if I do not get enough rest or sleep, I can become very moody and cranky real quick! lol Sometimes not going too far from home is the best vacation you can take! I mean, we do live in FLorida which is a place where people from all around the world come to vacation. We have it right in our own backyard! I think its wonderful that you got to enjoy some bonding time with some friends and just enjoy the vacation. The pictures were so funny when we were taking them. They honestly show our personalities. It was overall a wonderful trip. I hope you had a great end to your spring break as well!

Spring break was too short! Ha. I’m sure everyone would agree, but I guess vacations can only last so long. Being born and raised in America I’m used to the 9-5 lifestyle, but as I’m closing my degree here at St.Thomas I’ve learned of different cultures and their views in vacation or down time. Seeing countries like the Netherlands that average work week is 30 hours it’s crazy to think that’s possible. Work to rest, rest to work. Lol. Anyways great stuff! Universal and islands are a definite go to.

Spring Break was WAY too short! I cannot agree more! I didn’t even feel like I had a spring break as I was working and still had one class during the week. I guess that’s all part of adulting now though lol I have also been learning about other cultures and how they take vacationing very seriously and family time and it is such a strange concept as much as I wish it weren’t since here in America we do always work that 9-5. I couldn’t agree with your comment more and think its wonderful that you shared this. I hope you got to rest during your spring break and that you find time in the bust schedule throughout the week to do the same.

This spring break was greatly needed for me and I am sure everyone else as well. Luckily for me I get to spend time with my family a lot since I live with them. We sit down everyday to eat dinner together and we usually go out together every week. Taking a break now and then is very much needed as you mentioned to get away from the repetitive life style some of us have. This week I am actually going to Disney with my sister and some friends for another break lol. Sorry Dr. Campbell I will be missing Monday’s class.

I love hearing when people get to spend time with their family and that they had a wonderful time. It is such a breath of fresh air to me as many people today don’t put their family first or make them a priority. I also live with my family and whenever we are all home together we too sit down to dinner together and talk about our day. I am so happy to hear that you are getting a little getaway though! I LOVE Disney and wish i could go with you! DIsney is my favorite place ever! I hope you enjoy your time up there! You have to try and go see the Beauty and the Beast castle if you can. It’s just beautiful! (Belle is my favorite) hehe Have fun! And I say Disney is so worth it Dr. Campbell! lol

Glad you enjoyed your 3 days vacation day. No matter where we are even at home we people suppose to take a break from work and school to relax our mind from time to time in order to enjoy the wonderful memories out there

I agree that no matter where we are, we should always try and take time to relax our minds. We actually should do it everyday, but sometimes in the stress and rush of everyday life we forget. It is important to remember that life may not always be there and we need to enjoy these moments while we can.

Love the pictures! Truly seems like you had a great experience, sometimes short but they’re the best as it keeps you wanting more and to go back. I also love how they have a Panda Express there, as I’m currently obsessing with their food haha.
